The Post-Modern armchair build upon the technology pioneered by Thonet. The contouring technique, developed in the 19th Century, was truly embraced by 20th Century designers like Bill Stephens. Stephens took the standard armchair and elevated it with keen grace, creating a simple scoop shape of the chair and corner-less legs that work seamlessly to produce this organic modern form. The bent wood is layers of steamed strips of wood bent and laminated over a form to create one solid contoured piece.
