This vintage Lola Mundo chair/side table was designed by Philippe Starck in 1984 for the Italian manufacturer Driade. It is a multifunctional folding piece that can be used both as a chair and as a side table.
The design combines black lacquered ash wood with cast aluminium elements and black chromium-plated steel hinges. The sculptural legs feature a subtle reference to Louis XV cabriole forms, while the pink rubber studs add a contrasting decorative detail.
Lightweight and adaptable, this piece reflects Starck’s experimental approach to design in the 1980’s, blending function, and historical references. It remains a rare and collectible example of Italian postmodern furniture design.
