Designed by Hanspeter Weidmann in 1984 during his studies at the Schule für Gestaltung Basel, the Lehni Punk storage system is a distinctive example of innovative Swiss furniture design. It was among the early storage systems to be produced from sheet steel, combining a minimalist appearance with highly practical functionality.
With a depth of just 16 cm, the Punk shoe rack was conceived specifically for narrow entrance areas, providing useful storage without taking up unnecessary space. Its central tilting mechanism allows all compartments to open or close simultaneously, keeping shoes and everyday items discreetly organised while maintaining easy access.
The clean architectural form and clever mechanism give the piece a distinctly functional character, while its compact proportions make it particularly well suited to contemporary, minimalist and design-focused interiors. Today, the Punk remains an interesting example of early 1980s Swiss design where innovation, efficiency and understated aesthetics come together.
