This Postmodern Sciangai coat hanger was designed by Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi and produced by Zanotta in Italy during the 1980’s. It is one of the most iconic Italian design objects of the 20th century, known for its simple yet highly functional folding structure.
The design consists of eight intersecting wooden rods that open like a tripod system, creating a sculptural form that works both as a coat rack and as a decorative object. Made from solid wood with a black lacquer finish, it combines practicality with a strong architectural presence.
The Sciangai coat hanger was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979, one of the most important industrial design awards in Italy. This mark, along with the Zanotta signature, confirms its authenticity and collectible value.
